From the Land of Sky Blue Waters

No, this isn't a blog about Hamms Beer. It's a blog about me, Anne. I'm a Montana girl who now calls Minnesota home. I'm missing the mountains and my family but loving the lakes and Peter. I wanted a way for everyone to keep tabs on me. So voila mon blog.

Minnesota! Minnesota! Yaaaaaaay Gophers!

This Minnesota rouser is going out to the Gopher Hockey team. They won their Icebreaker tournament this weekend, prevailing against RPI and Michigan. I really enjoy professional hockey, but I LOVE college hockey. The Gophers are always fun to watch, and I'm really excited about this season.

I have something of a tradition of choosing the best Gopher Hockey name each year. Joining the ranks of Kris Chucko and Alex Goligoski is #4, the freshman defenseman from Chanhassen, Minnesota: Stu Bickel. He had a few good plays last night, and I'm happy to have him on the blue line. Plus his name is awesome :)

In other Gopher name news, one of the players has the same last name as my grandma's maiden name. That makes me a big fan. Alex Kangas, #33 freshman goaltender from Rochester, I am rooting for you! Who knows, we may even be distantly related :)

It's a great day for hockey!

Too Hot for Pumpkins

...or foliage. Today Pete and the Fredo and I had a busy day planned. We were going to watch some TC marathon, then drive up north for some seasonal colors and pick up a few pumpkins. That plan was quickly scrapped, however, when today turned out to be 85 degrees sunny.

I just can't get in the mood for fall stuff when it is so hot out. So it will be postponed until next weekend, I think. Fredo was a little upset that he didn't get his pumpkin today (we always get him a small one of his own, and he likes to try to chew on them), but I think he understands. I felt sorry for the folks running the marathon today, because it was very warm. I got hot just standing there watching. I can't even imagine. I'm ready for some more seasonal weather, that's for sure.

In other news: wedding website coming soon :)
