From the Land of Sky Blue Waters

Reasons to be Happy :)

These are the things I am happy about today:

1) My parents are coming tomorrow!
2) The Gophers pulled off a win against Air Force!
3) The people at the Kowalski's (the one on Chicago and 56th) are so freaking nice!
4) Pete's evil monkey face! I love you Pete!

I Love March

March has some miserable weather, but it is one of my favorite times of the year. As far as I'm concerned the best sports watching of the year is in March. Not only do we get to enjoy March Madness, but also the WCHA tournament and then NCAA tournament for hockey. It's nice that this happens during such a miserable month weather-wise. The crappy weather makes it feel okay to sit on the couch every night watching sports. It also gives me something else to look forward to, stopping me from fixating on how badly I want it to be summer.

Lots of good close games in the basketball tourney so far. VCU beating Duke in the first round was golden. It was heart-breaking to watch Xavier's lead over Ohio State slip away. I thought they had them! I'm pretty much rooting for underdogs across the board, except for Wisconsin. They're a #2 seed, but I have to cheer for them. On Wisconsin!

Pete and I went to the WCHA tournament game between the Gophers and Badgers. I love going to this tournament because everyone shows up wearing their team's hockey sweater, even if their team isn't playing in the tournament. What other sport does that? You know right away from looking at someone where their loyalties are. The tickets to this game were my Valentine's Day present from Peter :) The perfect gift. Gophers have some momentum now, so I'm excited to see what they can do in the NCAA tourney. I attribute their recent success to the hair :)

Thanks to everyone for coming to our St. Patrick's Day party! We're lucky to have such great friends :)

My parents are coming to visit a week from today, and I'm so excited!!!!

Pete is the best snow-shoveler EVER

There is nothing more romantic than a boy shoveling snow for you, and Pete is a champ. I don't mind helping shovel, but we only had one shovel. Or that's what we thought until today, when we discovered another snow shovel in the rafters of the garage.

Moving with all the snow has been an adventure. It's been like camping, but in a house. Things are really starting to come together, though. I've never spent so much time at Ikea and Home Depot in my life!

Many thanks to Pattie and John for coming down to help us move the bed. It was fun to see you guys!

Since I work at a school, today was a snow day for me. It was nice to have some extra time off. I really enjoyed watching the white-out conditions yesterday. I enjoyed it much more once Pete had picked me up from work and I was safely at home. The best part of the whole thing, though, was that my evening class at Hamline was cancelled. Hooray :)

Tomorrow Peter and Fredo Potato and I are headed up to Duluth to take in some hockey. It will be nice to get away for a little while, and even nicer to come home now that we have a house to come back to!
